I was born and raised here in Raleigh. My parents still reside here, and my brother lives just south of here in Sanford. I first understood the Gospel through a ministry called Young Life when I was in high school. Young Life became a huge part of my life and would continue to be for years to come.

I went just down the road to Blue Heaven for college and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2001 with a B.A. in American History. I became a Young Life leader in college and served at East Chapel Hill High School for 3 years. But when graduation time came, I knew that while I was done with school, I was not done with Chapel Hill. I stuck around for two years while working for Young Life and volunteering with College Life, a program designed to help college freshmen and sophomores not only grow in Christ, but to learn about the high calling of being a Young Life leader. Those two years remain some of the best I've experienced in my life.

I have an unhealthy affinity for Krispy Kreme doughnuts. And my love for UNC basketball gets me through my dislike of winter. During the transition seasons of spring and fall, I take any chance I get to be outside. I probably should be hiking, or partaking in some other physical activity, but I have found that I'm quite fond of sitting in my Crazy Creek chair and reading. I love the mountains and get there when I can, especially to cool off during the summer months. I also like a good day at the beach to relax with friends.

I have been attending Apostles since I moved back to Raleigh in the fall of 2003 and I began working as the Administrator in April 2005. It has been great to get back into a ministry-based job and I have enjoyed getting to know the staff and congregation through it. I look forward to growing in this job and growing in my relationship with the Lord. His grace and mercy with my clearly fallen and sinful self never ceases to amaze me. William Faulkner is quoted in Eugene Peterson's A Long Obedience in the Same Direction, saying of the group of Psalms categorized as the Songs of Ascents, "They are not monuments, but footprints. A monument only says, 'At least I made it this far,' while a footprint says, 'This is where I was when I moved again.'" That is how I long to live my life: never settling for where I am in my walk with Christ, but always striving to learn more and to know Him more clearly. My walk with Christ is not a list of goals to be checked off along the way, but a life-long journey of growing closer to him.
